I recently realized that it has been a long time since I captured my own family’s day-to-day life. I’m so busy capturing other families that I’ve neglected my own. So I’ve decided to start a weekly family project this school year. Every week I plan to post a few images that I’ve taken of my own family and share a little bit of our lives.
Eleanor started first grade this week. I remember being so excited when school started every year. Each year brought new clothes, shoes, school supplies and seeing friends after a long summer spent mostly with my four siblings. I felt that old familiar excitement when I took Eleanor shopping to get her ready to start school.
The night before her first day of school, my own excitement for her building as I prepared her lunch box, I asked, “Eleanor, are you so excited that school is starting tomorrow?”
She replied, “It’s not that exciting. I was excited when I started Kindergarten, but I got used to it pretty quick. It’s not that fun. I think I’ll get used to first grade quick too.”
She gets her bad attitude from her father.
