I was so excited to shoot this session! Not only was I thrilled to get to meet this little boy after shooting his beautiful Mama’s maternity session, but this was also my very first outdoor newborn session! I was a tad bit apprehensive. When I shoot a newborn either at their home or in my studio, I can control the environment, there is no wind or bugs, and I can control the light and temperature. But in the great outdoors I am at the mercy of the elements! And with a newborn you never know whether they will sleep easily or whether you will spend half the session soothing them back to sleep in between poses. Luckily, it was a very warm day and Axl was such a good sleeper! He slept soundly through almost the entire session, which was fairly quick (we didn’t want to keep him out in the heat too long), and I think the results are just beautiful. I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone a little. It always pays off to try something new!
