Don’t get me wrong, I can create beautiful portraits for your family all year long, no matter what the conditions are. BUT, in my opinion, Spring is the very BEST time of the year for family photos! Most families tend to think Fall is the best time for photos. To be honest, I haven’t shared this little secret often enough! I think it’s time to make Spring the new Fall.

I know you might not be convinced just yet. You still want to wait until fall? Well, here are my top 3 reasons why Spring is my very favorite season for family portraits:

Gorgeous Locations

You have to admit that most of the year in SoCal the outdoor landscape can be pretty drab. The extreme heat of our summers (which extend long into the fall) tend to kill flowers, and turn grass brown.

But in the spring the heat hasn’t yet arrived so there are lush green hills and flowers blooming everywhere you look. And after all the rain we got this winter, the vibrant multi-hued wildflowers are in a superbloom for the first time in many years.

Comfortable Weather

The best thing about Spring is the weather! We don’t have to worry about keeping kids happy in the 90-100 degree weather of summer, or keeping them warm in the chilly and windy late fall and winter months. We are also free from shiny faces, melting makeup, and sweating through clothes that come with the summer.
The spring has the best weather of the year with pleasant temperate days keeping the whole family comfortable while I work my magic!

Your Favorite Photographer is Available

Because most families wait until the fall to have current photos to use for their holiday cards, my schedule is always jam packed. I’m often fully booked through the end of the year by September.

The later in the year, the more likely it becomes that you may have to work around my full schedule instead of choosing a date that works best for your schedule.

I haven’t let most families in on the secret of how wonderful Spring sessions are, so I have a lot more dates and times available in April and May than I do in the fall. Which means right now is the very best time to book your family session!
