I recently got to second shoot a wedding for my fantastic studio manager, Amy. She currently has a wedding photography business that she’s decided to shut down, so I’m very honored that I got to shoot her last wedding with her. (and by “last wedding” I mean last for her own business. Amy will be transitioning to be my associate photographer to shoot weddings with me for Just Maggie! Yay!)
One of my favorite things about photographing weddings is that your photographer is the ONLY person that gets to spend the entire day with the bride and groom. Which means they better like us! When I sit down with brides and grooms to-be, I always tell them that they must find a photographer who they like spending time with. Of course, their style and skill is also very important, but having a photographer you like can help to make your big day less stressful, and can be essential for getting great photos!
In this case, Karen and Amy have known each other for over a decade. And Karen has been planning on hiring Amy to shoot her wedding for at least the last four years, before Karen and Jeff were even engaged! After the wedding, Karen told Amy, “The whole time we were getting our pictures taken I was seriously thinking and feeling …. ‘I am one of the luckiest people ever because I have my friend as my photographer…’ . That made my day even more special and stress free!”
Karen and Jeff have been together a long time and their friends and family were more than ready to help them celebrate! Their wedding day was sunny and gorgeous and Amy and I are both just so excited for them to start their new life together (and then call me when she gets pregnant)!!
